Bermuda’s Governor, Rena Lalgie, has issued the writ for a by-election required to replace retired MP Cole Simons, on October 5, in Smith’s South Constituency 8.
The Parliamentary Registrar advised the public earlier today, that the 7-day registration period for this by-election will close on Wednesday, August at 5pm.
Voters living in Smith’s South were encouraged to ensure their registration details are correct and up to
date.
Registration forms are available at the Parliamentary Registrar’s Office and on the website at www.elections.gov.bm.
All pertinent information relating to this by-election will be made available on the website.
The Parliamentary Registry is located in Craig Appin House on the 3rd floor, at 8 Wesley Street in the City of Hamilton.
Meanwhile, Interim Leader of the Opposition, Jarion Richardson said the One Bermuda Alliance was pleased to learn of the date for the by-election.
“We are excited and looking forward to unveiling our candidate in the near future,“ he said.
“The OBA can assure you that it will continue to work hard in Smith’s South and win the seat once again.“
Candidates for the upcoming by-election have yet to be officially announced.
