A GoFundMe account set up to ‘Help Secure A Bright Future For Marco’s Son Vega’ has raised $23,902 towards a $30,000 goal, with $10,000 raised in less than 24 hours.

The account, set up five days ago, follows the tragic death of the young father and footballer, who was only 29 when he succumbed to injuries sustain in an early morning hit-and-run collision on Mother’s Day.

This fundraiser post says: “Cameron Silbar is organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Wendy Warren.”

Another post stated: “Cameron Silbar and Marco Warren’s Flagler College Football Teammates have been so kind to set this GoFundMe up in memory of Marco to help support and sure (sic) that his 4-month-old (who has loss such a great dad and sole provider) can be cared for; have a bright future and reap the benefits of the positive seeds that Marco has unselfishly planted in so many lives around the entire world.”

An update posted yesterday by the orgainizer added: “Thank you to everyone who has donated!

“It is amazing to see all of the support.

“With over $20,00 raised in three days, we have extended our goal to $30,000.

“If you have yet to donate or want to continue supporting, please give what you can. All proceeds go to Marco’s family in support of his 4-month-old Son Vega.”

Earlier this week the support garnered was described as “incredible to see the outpouring of support for Marco”.

On May 20, Cameron Silbar said: “We have reached our goal of $10,000 in less than 24 hours!

“It is a testament to the amazing human being Marco was.

“As a result, we have extended our goal to $20,000.

“If you have yet to donate, or still want to help, please give what you can to support Marco’s infant son Vega. Thank you!”

The appeal, ‘In Loving Memory of Marco Warren’, states:

On Sunday, May 14th, the world lost an extraordinary individual, Marco Warren. At the young age of 29, Marco’s tragic passing has left his family, friends, and the football community devastated. We now unite to honor Marco’s legacy and support those he held most dear: his beloved mother, Wendie; his father, Dwight; his girlfriend, Kalay; his sisters, Chelsea and Zianna; and his precious 4-month-old son, Vega.

Marco was more than just an exceptional footballer; he was a beacon of light, radiating wisdom, compassion, and love beyond his years. He had an infectious smile that could brighten the darkest days, and his thirst for life shone even brighter than his brilliance on the field. Marco’s genuine care for others and his tireless work ethic made him an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He taught people how to succeed. But more importantly, he taught people how to live.

As we reflect on Marco’s life, we are reminded of his impact both as a player and as a human being. His football resume speaks volumes, 12 goals and 13 assists for Flagler College, appearances for his national team, Bermuda, in the CONCACAF Gold Cup, and captaining the professional football team, the PHC Zebra’s. But these accomplishments fail to capture the essence of the incredible man he was. Marco was a gift to all of us fortunate enough to experience his presence, both on and off the field. His departure leaves a void in our hearts, but his memory will forever be cherished.

With this GoFundMe campaign, our goal is to rally together and provide support for Marco’s family. We aim to ensure that Marco’s son Vega has the necessary resources and opportunities to thrive in the future, just as his father would have wished. The funds raised will go towards Vega’s education, healthcare, and overall well-being.

Let us honor Marco Warren’s legacy by coming together and supporting his family during this difficult time. Your contribution will make a significant difference in the lives of those left behind. Together, we can help provide stability and hope for his family as they navigate this new chapter without their beloved Marco. May his memory forever inspire us to work hard, to love passionately, and to cherish every moment. Rest in peace, Marco. Heaven’s team has gained an angel, but we will forever miss you.

Thank you for your compassion and kindness.
