LOOP NEWS, Jamaica: MAY 6, 2020 – Four persons – three men and a woman – were arrested in connection with what has been labelled as the biggest ganja bust in Jamaica’s history.

Approximately 8,700 pounds of compressed ganja with an estimated street value of $35 million was seized during searches at two premises in Spur Tree, Manchester on Monday, May 4.

Reports are that about 8.45 pm, members of the Narcotics and Manchester police divisions carried out the co-ordinated operations.

A motor vehicle was also seized during the operations.

The identities of the persons who have been taken into custody are being withheld, pending further investigation by the police.

The police are appealing to anyone with information that can assist them with the investigation to contact the Narcotics Division at 876-923-5729, the police 119 emergency number, Crime Stop at 311, or the nearest police station.

The Gleaner reports the drug bust by a joint police-military team was carried out around 8:45pm at two premises in the area.

The identities of the persons taken into custody are being withheld pending further investigations.
