A 41-year-old Pembroke man lost his life tonight as a result of a serious road traffic accident on Bermuda’s roads.

Police and first responders were dispatched to a reported serious single vehicle motorcycle crash on North Shore Road in Devonshire near the junction with Bandroom Lane around 9:15pm.

A police spokesman said the injured rider was taken to the hospital’s Emergency Ward via ambulance where he was later pronounced dead.

“No further information regarding the deceased will be provided at this time until his next of kin have been notified,” he said.

“The investigation into this fatal collision, the fifth for 2017, is underway and police are appealing for any witnesses to contact the Roads Policing Unit on 247-1788.”

A number of motorists were blocked in traffic being diverted up Bandroom Lane while police conducted handled the aftermath of the fatal accident.

In what has now become the new normal, a number of residents extended condolences to the family of the deceased via social media shortly after the fatal accident occurred.

As noted, no official statement will be made by police on the victim’s identity until his next of kin have been notified of this latest road traffic fatality.
