A 52-year-old Paget woman driving a taxi was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving yesterday, after a senior citizen, a female pedestrian was struck by the vehicle.
Police say the accident occurred around 8pm last night (October 31) on Cobbs Hill Road in Warwick near the junction with the Railway Trail.
A spokesman said: “It appears that a 79-year-old Warwick woman was crossing the road to attend Cobbs Hill Gospel Chapel when she was struck by a taxi driven along Cobbs Hill Road.
“The injured pedestrian was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance and at last check this morning (November 1st) was listed in stable condition on a general ward. There were no other injuries reported.
“The taxi driver, said to be a 52 year old Paget woman, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.”
