St George’s residents woke up to unusual sights around the Old Towne on Saturday, when exceptionally high tides lapped up King’s Square and other low-lying areas around the island.
Driven in part by the full moon, the high waters were the end result of the moon’s extra gravitational pull on the ocean.
These photographs were posted on Facebook this weekend by St George’s MP Renee Ming and lawyer Susan Mulligan.
The recent flooding also forced the closure of the long-term parking lot at the LF Wade International Airport until further notice.
A spokeswoman for Bermuda Skyport said today: “If you have parked in the long-term parking lot, please arrange to have your vehicle removed as soon as possible to avoid water damage.”
