The public consultation meeting on the proposals for parish primary schools that was cancelled last night due to the winter storm has been rescheduled for Monday, February 1.

A Ministry of Education spokeswoman said: “Persons who have registered for this evening’s meeting (Jan 28) will be automatically registered for the February 1 meeting.

“Should they be unable to attend they can register for the public meeting scheduled on February 1 at 6pm.”

The initial meeting “was to be held online, and simulcast on Facebook Live, CITV and YouTube from 6:00 to 8pm.

The decision to cancel the meeting was take “to avoid any disruption of the meeting due to potential power and internet connections”.

“Out of an abundance of caution, this cancellation will ensure that Ministry staff will be able to travel home safely during regular commuting hours,” the spokeswoman added.

“Persons can register for Monday’s public meeting at http://parishschools.live/public as well as the upcoming parish meetings by visiting http://parishschools.live/parish.

“Those having difficulty registering can email comms@moed.bm for assistance.”
