News Release: Hamilton, Bermuda –  The Devonshire Parish Council is proud to announce that they have selected five remarkable individuals to receive their Fall 2019 Scholarship.

The five recipients distinguished themselves through their passion, enthusiasm and determination to succeed in their chosen area of study. This year’s awardees are Zaren Bennett, Aneika Fox, Silhe Sharrieff-Hayward, Raeesah Shakir and Deja Tucker.

  • Zaren Bennett has a passion for music and the youth and is studying Music Education at Oakwood University
  • Aneika Fox is committed to helping address family and societal issues in Bermuda and is pursuing a Bachelor of Social Work at the University of Central Florida
  • Raeesah Shakir attends The University of Essex and is pursuing a BSc Business Management and Marketing. She would like to use her creativity to positively impact her community
  • Sihle Sharrieff-Hayward is dedicated to a career in education and is enrolled in a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary/Special Education program and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration concentrating in Entrepreneurship program at Washington Adventist University
  • Deja Tucker is passionate about understanding the key foundations of society through biological research and development and is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Neuroscience

It is our pleasure to help students achieve their educational goals through this scholarship and we look forward to witnessing their future growth and accomplishments.

The Devonshire Parish Council Scholarship is offered annually to Devonshire residents, with a maximum value of up to $5,000 per awardee for undergraduate and graduate studies. For more information about the Devonshire Parish Council Scholarship, email the Committee at
