The Department of Parks has a new set of 25 student graduates of the Horticulture Training Programme.

Public Works Minister Lieutenant-Colonel David Burch and the Minister of Education and Workforce Development, Diallo Rabain, were on hand for the ceremony held on Thursday.

A spokeswoman said: “Graduates were commended by Minister of Public Works, Lt. Col. David Burch and Minister of Education and Workforce Development, The Hon. Diallo Rabain who provided remarks at the ceremony.”

Minister Burch added: “One of the more pleasant tasks of this job is being able to participate in ceremonies such as this that congratulate and honour people who have done good work.”

His colleague, Minister Rabain said: “The Department of Workforce Development is committed to ensuring that anyone who wants to pursue a career in this field has access to proper training and resources. I encourage those who have an interest in horticultural careers to visit the Department to learn more about opportunities, training and certification.”

It was also noted that this graduating class is the first group to receive national accreditation in horticulture in Bermuda.
