Following the event, Minister Caines said, “I have had the fortune of speaking and listening to the Right Living House Residents on many occasions, and I know some of them personally. From those interactions, I can say without a doubt, that the program has had a profound impact on their lives.”
“I am confident that on release, the residents will have the tools needed for successful reintegration into society and the ability to make better life choices going forward.”
The open house was held in September, as this month is International Recovery Month. During the month, Government Agencies, Treatment Facilities and groups such as Narcotic’s Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous focus on educating the public about addiction and the available treatment options.
International Recovery Month also serves as an opportunity to highlight that recovery is possible and persons can return to the community to live productive, pro-social lives.
