DaBaby got spanked.
Hours before he was supposed to take the stage at Lollapalooza, the Chicago concert festival dumped the 29-year-old rapper from its lineup.
“Lollapalooza was founded on diversity, inclusivity, respect and love,” the festival said in a statement Sunday morning. “With that in mind, DaBaby will no longer be performing at Grant Park tonight.”
Last week, during a performance at Miami’s Rolling Loud festival, the Ohio native spewed a series of derogatory comments about gay men, HIV and AIDS. He apologized, then doubled down, releasing a self-directed video that again used AIDS as an insult.
“My apologies for being me the same way you want the freedom to be you,” read text at the end of the video.
The homophobic comments drew backlash across the industry, from Elton John to Dua Lipa, who collaborated with the rapper on a remix of her song “Levitating.”
“People like you are the reason we are still living in a world divided by fear,” Madonna wrote on Instagram. “All human beings should be treated with dignity and respect regardless of race, gender, sexual preference or religious beliefs. AMEN.”
