The case of a brother and sister convicted for the 2006 premeditated murder of Marcus Gibbons has been dismissed by Bermuda’s Court of Appeal.
Katrina Burgess and Cleveland Rogers were “sentenced to live imprisonment, with a recommendation that they each serve 25 years before being eligible to be considered for parole”.
According to the written ruling released earlier this month: “The appellants are half siblings. The events with which this case is concerned took place in October 2006; Burgess had been in a volatile relationship with the Deceased.”
It was also noted that the couple, who lived together, broke up and they both moved out of the Pembroke residence.
The victim was found stabbed to death.
The Crown’s case said he was killed by Rogers, at the behest of Burgess.
