A 51-year-old civil servant who is the Assistant Director of the the Department of Child and Family Services, was formally charged with assault and mistreatment of a child in Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
Kennette Robinson, of Devonshire denied the charges on December 5.
The offences are alleged to have been committed on May 8 last year in St George’s.
Ms Robinson opted to stand trial in the lower courts.
The alleged victim, a girl aged 17 at the time, cannot be identified for legal reasons.
Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo extended the defendant’s $1,000 bail and adjourned the cast until October 19.
