News Release: Hamilton, Bermuda – Colonial Insurance has received more than 175 claims for damage caused by Hurricane Humberto.
Juanita Coley, the firm’s Claims Manager said: “We were accepting calls from 8:30am on Thursday, September 19, from clients whose property had been damaged.
“Our office opened at noon, once the roads were deemed safe for public access. Shortly after, our loss adjusters began assessing damaged properties.
“Claim payments began as early as Monday, September 23. Assessments are ongoing and the overal cost of damage is yet to be determined.
“The majority of our claims are in relation to property damage, most of which are in the western end of the island.”
According to the latest Bermuda Weather Service forecast, Tropical Storm Jerry is a threat to Bermuda and Mrs Coley added: “Given the increased activity in the Atlantic, we continue to urge the public to take all the necessary precautions in securing their property.”
