News Release: Hamilton, Bermuda, March 5, 2020 – Following the success of its pilot programme, one of the island’s leading insurance companies is seeking applications for a second intake of internships this year.

Last year Colonial Group International (CGI) welcomed 12 students, aged 17 to 21, for its inaugural internship programme.

A CGI spokesperson said: “We were delighted with the ability and attitude of our interns from last year.

“We consider the programme a success that hopefully provided the interns with an enriching experience to aid them in their career.

“The intern scheme is aimed at providing a meaningful and holistic summer experience for the students, while allowing our staff to develop through mentorship and connecting with a younger generation of Bermudians.”

CGI has ten (10) places available for ten weeks and the interns can expect exposure and insight into the functions of a local insurance company.

Each student will also be given a mentor and to expect to engage in various team building, networking and community service initiatives.

The first interns taken on by CGI had frequent ‘Lunch and Learns’, a team building day at Outward Bound and a fireside chat with CGI’s Group General Counsel.

In addition, they were divided into two teams for their group project – to research and then present their solutions to the question, ‘How can CGI leverage technology to improve customer and internal relations?’

Their work culminated in presentations to each other and CGI management.

To qualify students must be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university, have strong communication skills; and demonstrate sound and reliable work ethic; excellent attention to detail with good organizational, research and analytical skills, with the ability to take the initiative.
