News Release: HAMILTON, Bermuda – Clarien Bank Ltd is proud to announce a generous donation of $10,000 to The Flora Fund, a sports funding initiative dedicated to supporting Bermuda’s young and aspiring athletes.

In partnership with the Bermuda Foundation, The Flora Fund offers bursaries and grants to aid individual athletes and sporting organisations to achieve excellence in sports.

“We believe in the transformative power of sport, and our donation to the Flora Fund is an investment in the potential of young Bermudian athletes,” said Michael DeCouto, Clarien Bank’s Chief Digital and Marketing Officer. “Supporting these athletes means fostering a strong community and ensuring the continued development of sports here in Bermuda. We are honored to be a part of their journey toward success.”

The Flora Fund, established by Bermuda’s own world champion triathlete Flora Duffy in 2018, emphasises the importance of providing financial support to upcoming Bermudian talents.

Flora Duffy stated: “Clarien has continued to be a cornerstone to the vision of The Flora Fund. For seven (7) years, Clarien has supported my aspiration of allowing young Bermudian talent to find their full potential in spite of financial constraints. The Flora Fund has deployed more than $100,000 across 45grants to deserving Bermudians. Fifty-four percent (54%) of these beneficiaries were female, which I am really proud of. Football, athletics and tennis have been the leading sports. With this donation, Clarien will enable more trips abroad, more coaching fees, more needed equipment. I am incredibly thankful.”

The announcement of the donation comes just days after the 34th Iron Kids Triathlon, which was held this past Saturday (June 15,2024). This annual event, a testament to the spirit of athleticism in the local community, is hosted by Clarien, in collaboration with the Bermuda Triathlon Association.

Each year, young athletes are given the opportunity to participate in a spirited competition, with the winners earning a $1,000 Clarien Iron Kids Bank account, further demonstrating Clarien’s commitment to nurturing the ambitions of Bermuda’s youth.

The Clarien Iron Kids Triathlon & Carnival has become a beacon of community activity, encouraging physical fitness, and healthy lifestyles among Bermuda’s children and teens.

Clarien Bank’s support of the Flora Fund aligns perfectly with the core values promoted at this inspiring event.
