New York Daily News: By Jessica Schladebeck – A Chicago girl dressed in her birthday best, an all pink ensemble with a sash included, was shot on the way home from a dinner held to celebrate her turning 12.

Nyzireya Moore was riding in the backseat of her parents car when she was shot Tuesday around 7:45 p.m., the Chicago Tribune reported. She was rushed to the Comer Children’s Hospital with severe brain injuries and pronounced dead at 11:32am Friday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office and Chicago police.

Nyzireya was shot in the head.

Authorities said the vehicle carrying the preteen was struck in a hail of gunfire unleashed by three men on the street, who were aiming at another vehicle at the time.

The involved car sped northbound as the men seemingly continued shooting, hitting the family vehicle.

A search continued on Saturday for the suspects involved in the shooting. CPD is offering up a reward of up to $15,000 for information leading to an arrest or conviction.
