News Release: HAMILTON, Bermuda – The Bermuda Weather Service (BWS) advised this evening that the island will experience windy weather conditions later tonight (April 6).

The BWS has issued a Gale Warning for late tonight and notes that there’s also the potential for storm force gusts after midnight. A thunderstorm advisory has also been issued.

Motorists should exercise care and caution if they are on the roads tonight. The community can stay abreast of the severe weather developments by visiting www.weather.bm .

Tonight’s forecast calls for breezy conditions ahead of rain showers and gale force winds due to low pressure to our north, which “will drive a trough through the area late this evening and tonight with showers, the chance of thunder, and strong to gale force wind with gusts approaching storm force”.

Winds will be out of the west with strong gusts to gale force, “increasing strong to gale force with possible gusts to storm force, especially near showers from late evening and overnight, veering northwesterly towards dawn”.

Forecasters say while showers will ease by Wednesday morning, “the wind will remain strong and blustery from the northwest with the continued cool early April temperatures”.

“High pressure will slowly nudge in from the west later in the week allowing winds to gradually ease.”
