Butterfield Bank employees who work at the main branch were literally kicked to the curb, when a fire alarm forced the evacuation of the building just before it was time to knock off on Friday.

Fire officials were called to the scene to check the building shortly after 4pm.

No official word on when staff were cleared to go back into the building to finish off the end of week workload.

Workers were lined up along Reid Street while the building was checked before it was cleared by the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service.
