Bermuda’s school students, Ministry and Department of Education staff will join in on the fundraising drive to assist residents left stricken by two powerful hurricanes that swept through the Caribbean.

The Bermuda Union of Teachers extended the invitation this week to participate in a national grub day on Friday.

In a brief statement released on Tuesday, the BUT said: “We are asking school staff and students to donate generously to this worthy cause.

“The sum total will be used to ease the burden and devastation of students and their families. We thank you in advance for a positive response.

Earlier this week, the West Indian Association in Bermuda stepped up their fundraising drive to help with restoration and relief efforts. Events planned include a telethon on October 12th, a family fun day in November and the ‘Christmas Round De Caribbean’ fundraiser in December.
