News Release HAMILTON, Bermuda The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute (BUEI) is excited to announce the return of the Manhattan Short Film Festival, screening this year’s Oscar-Nominated Short Films in our Tradewinds Auditorium (Wheelchair Accessible).
BUEI will be offering three showtimes with screenings on:
• Thursday September 28th, 7:30pm-9pm;
• Tuesday October 3rd, 7:30pm-9pm; and
• Sunday October 8th, 5pm-6:30pm
The Manhattan Short Film Festival, now in its twenty-sixth year, is a worldwide film event unlike any other. A selection of the top ten finalists will be screened in over five-hundred venues across six continents during a one-week period. Best Film and Best Actor awards are determined by ballots cast by audiences in each participating venue with shortlisted films qualifying for the Oscars.
This year’s finalists hail from eight countries with films from Australia, Afghanistan, Finland, Iran, Switzerland, The United Kingdom, and Canada alongside three short films from the USA. Films are linked by a common theme: how we face adversity, whether it is imposed by others or arises from personal circumstances. The final ten short film selections feature narratives that are dramatic, sometimes humorous, occasionally magical and always inspirational!
Tickets for ‘Manhattan Short’ are $15 for General Admission and $25 for our Big Screen Package, which includes: a drink of choice (a complimentary glass of wine from California’s own Beringer Main & Vine, an Italian Moretti Beer, or a non-alcoholic beverage) and a delightful snack pack to enjoy during the screening.
Special thanks to Discovery Wines & Spirits!
