News Release: HAMILTON, Bermuda – The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute (BUEI) is pleased to announce that the topic for the last Kids Hour Saturday of the year, taking place on September 17th, is Lobsters!

‘Kids Hour Saturdays’ takes place every third Saturday of the month between January and September at 11am and 2pm respectively. Each hour features the screening of short films followed by a book reading for children aged 5-12 years old.

September’s ‘Kids Hour’ will feature one short film entitled ‘Lobsters – The Armored Knights of the Ocean’, followed by a reading of the book ‘Lindie Lobster – A Tale of Big Claws’ by American children’s author, Suzanne Tate.

The film, ‘Lobsters – The Armored Knights of the Ocean’ follows a large community of lobsters living on a sunken lobster fishing boat in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, where one of the largest populations of lobsters call home. The film explores their habits and habitats in such a large diverse oceanic community.

The book for this month’s ‘Kids Hour’, ‘Lindie Lobster – A Tale of Big Claws’ tells the story of a lobster named Lindie, over the course of her life as she becomes a big, strong lobster. Filled with vibrant and detailed colour illustrations, this book should be a crowd pleaser.

Karla Lacey, CEO ofthe Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute, says: “We are happy to provide the opportunity for kids to learn more about these great creatures of Bermuda’s oceans. Lobsters are fascinating, intelligent creatures with complex social relationships. Like people they carry their young for nine months and can even live as long as one hundred years!”

Kids Hour Saturdays are free for members (Single Parent through Adventurer Tier) and $2.50 per child for non-members. Please note that caregivers must stay on site during the Kids Hour.
