News Release: HAMILTON, Bermuda – The Bermuda Tourism Authority (BTA) invites local entrepreneurs to apply for the Experience Investment Programme. The programme will allow interested businesspersons to submit their applications between February 1, 2023, and February 28, 2023.

Launched in 2016, the tourism experience investment programme is a vehicle for tourism entrepreneurs who need assistance getting their ideas off the ground. The programme was developed by the BTA to support the creation of innovative home-grown experiences by local event producers and tourism entrepreneurs. Aligning with the Local Involvement pillar of the National Tourism Plan, the investment helps foster the growth of original ideas placed forward by the local community. To date, the programme has invested over $4 million into the economy by way of small business start-ups.

Tracy Berkeley, Interim Chief Executive Officer said: “Bermuda is a vibrant country, and a vast part of our appeal is our residents. We are a group of dynamic, creative, and innovative people. Programmes such as these allow us to combine our cultural and tourism offerings, creating an enhanced Bermuda experience for our guests.”

In 2022, the BTA named nine (9) successful beneficiaries, who went on to curate experiences centred around food, live music, and other sources of entertainment.

“We are delighted to facilitate the next cohort of tourism entrepreneurs through our Experience Investment Programme. Each applicant is encouraged to be guided by the pillars of the National Tourism Plan,“ said Tashae Thompson, BTA VP of Experiences. She continued, “Data from our quarterly visitor exit surveys have provided us insight into what visitors love and what they would like to experience while on the island. We are focused on enlisting innovators who have the imagination and business acumen to translate Bermuda’s unique assets into frictionless experiences that will surprise and delight our visitors.”
