Bermuda’s new Deputy Commissioner of Police for the Bermuda Police Service (BPS), Na’imah Astwood was officially sworn in by Governor, Ms Rena Lalgie today, with family and friends.

Mrs Astwood’s appointment “follows an open and competitive recruitment process to which the post was advertised both locally and internationally”.

The Governor said: “The job of Deputy Commissioner of Police is an important one. I know that the scale of responsibility and accountability is not lost on Mrs Astwood. I believe that she will stand with the Commissioner as a firm, consistent and modern leader within the Bermuda Police Service.”

Mrs Astwood added: “I am excited and look forward to leading the men and women of our organisation as we continue to serve our community, making Bermuda safer.”
