The Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA) issued a statement today stating that they are “aware that fraudulent cheques have been created in the United States which falsely appear to have been issued from a US bank account operated by the Authority”.

A spokesperson said: “The Authority wishes to advise the public that it does not operate any chequing accounts within the United States.

“Any cheques found that appear to be issued by the Authority and drawn on a US bank, should be reported to local police along with a copy of this warning notice.”
