The Bermuda Hospitals Board (BHB) reports 172 people visited the Hospital’s Emergency Department or Urgent Care Centre last month due to road traffic accidents on Bermuda’s roads.

According to the latest statistics, the figures for the month of August show that of the 172 cases in the Emergency Department, two (2) people required admission to the Intensive Care Unit with 15 admitted to general wards as a result of their injuries.

A BHB spokesperson said of those admitted, one was a minor (17 years old) and no one was air-ambulanced overseas due to a road traffic accident.

It was also noted that 24 of those who attended Emergency, were tourists.
