All football matches scheduled for today (Dec 6) have been cancelled now that the Bermuda Football Association (BFA) has been “given notice by the Minister of Health” that all matches “shall not proceed” as a result of the current increase of COVID-19.

In a statement released this weekend, the BFA said; “The Executive Council of the Bermuda Football Association has been given notice by the Minister of Health as per Section 88 of the Public Health Act 1949 that all football matches scheduled for Sunday, December 6th shall not proceed.

“As a result of the current increase in the level of Covid-19 transmission in Bermuda the BFA fully understands and supports this decision by the Bermuda Government. The BFA will meet with the relevant Government Ministries in the coming days to determine the way forward and will provide further updates in due course.”

Ten new cases of COVID-19 were reported on Saturday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Bermuda up to 288 with a total of 63 active cases.
