About Art Pays Me

Artists have the power to spark joy, inspire revolutions, grow businesses, push culture forward and much more, yet most people, artists included underestimate the power of art. We want to change that.

Art Pays Me is a lifestyle brand and podcast founded in Halifax, Nova Scotia by Duane Jones in 2011. Duane is an Artist and Designer who moved to Halifax from Bermuda in 2000 to attend the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. After graduating, he started a family and decided to plant roots in Canada.

Duane’s motivation to start the brand came from years of frustration over the way that creative people are viewed in business settings. His mission is to motivate people to embrace their creative strengths to achieve financial and creative independence.

The Art Pays Me Podcast is a series of informal conversations between successful creatives of diverse backgrounds with Duane. Duane asks guests about the work they’re known for and how they got their start to explore the many ways possible to make a living off of art.
