Ten months in the making and counting, with more than a hundred hours to cut, and Bermudian fashion designer Amethyst Richardson is just about ready to unveil his first new collection in     years.

And this time around, local fashionistas are advised to get their tickets early, as there will be limited seating for the show on May 12, which will be held at Landfall Properties, followed by a light dinner at the new Cedar and Soul Restaurant – one of the island’s newest restaurants.

When contacted by Bermuda Real, Mr Richardson said there’s lots in store, as other designers will also feature their new designs.

As for his new collection, he said it promises to be one of his most creative projects yet, to showcase some of his “most feminine luxurious” looks.

“The ‘Shibari’ Fringe with Benefits Resort Collection 2018/19 is inspired by the Wild West Iconography, artfully arranged with knots, ties strips methodically creating a French feel,” said Mr Richardson.

“I’ve been working on this collection for the past ten months, one of the longest worked on collections, which has taken up hundreds of hours to cut and execute everything from swimsuits and fringed thigh high stockings to Fiery Red, Watery White and Smoking Black pieces.

“They’re all heavily fringed to give the most feminine luxurious look, with some of the looks armored with earrings and exaggerated neck pieces – all of which are fringed.”

He also noted that it’s been three years since he last showed a full collection here in Bermuda.

Looking ahead to the upcoming show, he said local fashion enthusiasts will “get to experience what others have in the Caribbean, the United States and Canada”.

“The collection is ultra sexy and most of the pieces are one-of-a-kind pieces. It will all be unleashed Saturday, May 12, in a pre-Mother’s Day fashion show at Landfall Properties, followed by a light dinner in the New Cedar and Soul Restaurant.”

Four other designers, Nicole Iris, James Lee, Edith Rookes and Rochelle Minors will also feature their new designs. A few local vendors will also be on hand selling their goods as well.

And once again, one of Amethyst’s top models will be strutting her stuff on the runway again.

“Tori Simons has been walking the runway for me over 15 years,” he said. ” She is favoured by most at all of our shows and once again, she will bring more fire and class to this sexy collection.

“Tori is still one of the fiercest effective models today on Bermuda’s runway,” he added.
