Bermuda’s Jamaican Association members are getting set to celebrate 60 years of the island’s independence with a special church service and gala featuring Huntley Septimus.

The 60th Independence Gala will be held on August 20 at the Hamilton Princess. Guest speakers include Wayne Caines, President of Ascendant and Dervan Malcolm, a cultural ambassador for Jamaica.

A special service will be held on Saturday at Hamilton Seventh-Day Adventist Church on King Street in Hamilton.

Tickets will run you $150 and patrons will pay $250 and can be purchased at Jamaican Grill locations or Fish n Tings on Angle Street.

Proceeds will go to Impact Mentoring Academy and Mustard Seed Communities, a Jamaica-based charity that supports vulnerable youngsters.
