The Bermuda Sloop Foundation will host an art show later this month, to raise funds to support a sail training programme for public middle school students.

The Spirit of the Ocean show will take place at Masterworks from Thursday until June 28.

The event will start with a live auction at the launch on Thursday, June 6 at 5:30pm.

The art display by both professional and amateur artists will also be auctioned off to raise funds.

The Bermuda Sloop Foundation offers public middle school students the chance to spend five days and four nights at sea on the Spirit of Bermuda.

A spokeswoman said: “Community support is important to the success of our sail training programme.

“Delivering a first-class Character Education Programme, using a tall ship designed after the schooners that our ancestors built in the 1800’s, Spirit has provided life-changing experiences to more than 4,000 young people by way of school, summer and overseas voyages,” she added.

“The public is invited to attend this inaugural event.”
