Bermuda Road Safety Council & Rubis Announce Draw 4 Change Student Art Exhibition

News Release: Hamilton, Bermuda – The Bermuda Road Safety Council & RUBiS Energy Bermuda Ltd. are pleased to announce that the Draw 4 Change Student Art Exhibition is now open for viewing in the Edinburgh Room of the Bermuda Society of Arts at City Hall.

The Exhibition features 175 pieces of original artwork submitted by primary and middle school students from both public and private schools as part of the Draw 4 Change competition launched by RUBiS and supported by the Bermuda Road Safety Council and the Drive for Change Campaign.

Graham Redford, Managing Director of RUBiS, said: “We believe strongly in supporting our schools and students and are especially happy to have been able to launch an initiative that helps drive awareness of the critical road safety issues facing the Island whilst at the same time supporting development of the arts.”

Jermaine Simons, Sales Manager of RUBiS added: “Draw 4 Change is the first phase of RUBiS’ annual Fuelling 4 a Cause(“F4aC”) Initiative. Draw 4 Change’s mission is to raise awareness and public engagement in various elements of Road Safety. Our hope is that by channelling our children’s creative talents via the Artwork Contest, the public can better understand how we can stay safe on our roads by practicing safer driving habits.

“All of the schools on the Island were invited to participate and there are submissions in three school grade categories that will be on display.”

Mr. Simons continued: “There will be a Winner, and 2nd Place & 3rd Place Honourable Mentions for each Grade Category and prizes will be given to the student. All submitted pieces will receive points for the student’s school and these points will determine which schools will be invited to participate in RUBiS’ 2019 Fuelling 4 a Cause (“F4aC”) Campaign in November.

F4aC 2019 participation will guarantee every school a minimum $1,000 donation from RUBiS, plus the opportunity to increase that amount via F4aC Activation & 2020 Fuel Your Spirit Days at RUBiS Service Stations. Additionally, the artwork from the Competition will be featured in the RUBiS 2020

calendar.

The opening times for the Bermuda Society of Arts are Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm and on Saturdays from 10am to 2pm and the exhibition will run until Tuesday August 6.”

Racháel Robinson, the Road Safety Officer, said: “Today more than ever we need to come together to improve the safety on our roads.

“I commend our Community Partners, RUBIS, for incorporating what road safety means to our youth into the RUBIS calendar. It has been an exciting time and the showcased art is extraordinary! The Road Safety office and The Road Safety Council will continue to make road safety best practices at the forefront of our strategies.”
