Sadly, Bermuda recorded a ninth road traffic fatality during the early hours of this morning.

Police confirmed that a 68-year-old man died in a single vehicle car crash that occurred just after 4am, east of the junction of Watch Hill and South Road in Smith’s Parish.

The victim was unresponsive when found in the driver’s seat of the vehicle which was facing west in the east bound lane of South Road and partially off the roadway.

A spokesman for the Bermuda Police Service said: “Officers performed CPR until EMTs arrived at the scene and took over.

“The man remained unresponsive however and was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

“The scene was processed by forensics officers along with Traffic Collision Investigators.”

No further information will be provided until the next of kin has been informed.
