A 35-year-old Smith’s Parish man sadly lost his life on Friday (Sept 8), marking Bermuda’s eighth road traffic fatality this year, following a three-vehicle accident on Middle Road in Devonshire on Friday.
Police say the accident occurred around 10:50am, when two motorcyclists collided with a car near the junction with Mayflower Drive.
A spokesman said the victim, who was one of the riders, sadly succumbed to his injuries in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit late Friday afternoon.
The condition of the second rider was unknown at the time of this release.
The male driver of the car was not injured.
Police, Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service as well as ambulance personnel were dispatched to the scene.
“Early information suggests that the car was being driven east along Middle Road and both motorcycles were being ridden in the opposite direction,” the spokesman said in the initial report on the accident.
Traffic was diverted at Tee Street and Watlington Road West until the scene was processed.
Meanwhile, the cause of the fatal crash is now under investigation by the Roads Policing Unit. Witnesses are urged to call 247-1788 or 211.
