News Release: Hamilton, Bermuda – Bermuda College culinary arts student Mr Tremayne Bailey and Hospitality Management Senior Lecturer, Mr Shawn Deshields arrived in Ghana on May 31st for a student internship and cultural immersion experience.

A partnership between the college and Ace It Foundation, a Ghana based NGO headed by Bermudian Quinton Sherlock Jr, has led to the establishment of this new internship opportunity for Bermuda College students. Grassroots community support from Mr Eldon Raynor Sr and former Opposition Leader, Mr Marc Bean JP significantly helped in making the opportunity a reality.

Culinary arts student, Mr Bailey will complete an eight-week internship between two facilities in Ghana, Till’s Beach Resort
(located in Gomoa-Fetteh) and Accra Marriott Hotel (located in Accra), respectively.
Hospitality Management Senior Lecturer, Mr Deshields will conduct capacity building workshops for staff at Till’s Beach Resort and neighboring facilities in Gomoa-Fetteh.
Mr DeShields and Mr Sherlock are of the strong belief that this initiative has the potential of being enriching for students not only
in terms of their academic progress but also, in terms of personal development.
Mr DeShields notes that: “Learning opportunities that require students to be placed outside of their comfort zone and experience new things builds character.”
More information regarding this international internship experience will be forthcoming.
