Not to be daunted by Hurricane Epsilon, Sean Sovacool, Bermuda Championship Tournament Director says organisers “will show an abundance of caution as we work through preparations amidst the incoming tropical storm”.

The event remains scheduled for October 26 to November 1.

“With this in mind, we have put our focus on preparation for areas inside the clubhouse and other areas inside the building.

“The placement of tents, restrooms, fencing, signs and other items that may be damaged in the storm will be delayed until the storm passes,” he said.

“We would typically have everything constructed by the end of the day Sunday leading into tournament week, but Epsilon may force us to work through Monday to prepare for the tournament.”

But as they say in show business, ‘the show must go on’.

And on that note, he said: “Rest assured that our team will be prepared to welcome the players, caddies and volunteers on Monday, our pro-am guests on Wednesday and all of the fans who are slated to attend next Thursday – Sunday.”

A spokesman added: “First and foremost, the health and safety of everyone associated with the Bermuda Championship and our community will continue to be our Number 1 priority as we navigate the impact of COVID-19.”
