As of 9am this morning there were 6,803 customers without power, as Belco crews continue to work around the clock to get all customers back online in the wake of Hurricane Paulette.

That number is down significantly from the figure released at 8pm last night, which was 14,685 and even that was down substantially from the 23,408 stripped of power when crews first set out after the storm yesterday at 5pm.

The relatively quick restoration of so many left without power when the initial assessment was made came in for high praise by a number of residents, who applauded Belco on social media.

No official word yet on when the utility company expects to have all customers back on line. But we’ll keep you posted.

A spokesman said yesterday that Belco’s Crisis Management Team will continue to meet and coordinate restoration efforts until all power is restored.”
