News Release: HAMILTON, Bermuda – The Ministry of Public Works wishes to inform motorists that BELCO will be pulling their fiber optic lines through the newly installed manholes on Harrington Sound Road. The first stretch will be from Somersall Road towards Middle Road in Flatts. Second stretch will be from Somersall Road towards Paynters Road.

The Work will require partial lane closure along each route and a temporary traffic light at Somersall Road to Devil’s Hole. The work will commence Monday, November 14th, 2022 and will be ongoing until Friday, December 2nd, 2022. Working hours will be from 7am to 6pm, Monday through Friday. Motorists are asked to cautiously travel along Harrington Sound Road or use alternative routes via North Shore Road or South Road for the duration of this work.

Traffic control will be managed by BELCO representatives through stop and go signs & a temporary traffic light. The Ministry of Public Works encourages the full cooperation of the public, and apologizes for any inconvenience that may result. The Ministry of Public Works also advised the motoring public that the ongoing North Shore Road lane closure has been extended. The trench works will continue down North Shore Road until it reaches Store Hill in Devonshire parish. The lane closure will be ongoing until Friday, March 31st, 2023.

Working hours will be from 7am to 6pm, daily Monday through Sunday. Motorists are asked to drive carefully through this section or make use of detour routes via Barker’s Hill or Store Hill to Middle Road. Traffic controls will be under the direction of BELCO representatives and will be managed through traffic control signals and signage.
