Roadwork repairs by Belco on Sunday to fix an underground transmission cable, may cause traffic delays in the Rural Hill area of Paget this weekend.
Motorists are encouraged to take alternative routes on Sunday during the repair work, which started on Friday evening in the eastbound lane, heading into the City of Hamilton between Stowe Hill and Lovers Lane, where traffic controls were put in place.
A Belco spokesperson said: “This work is necessary to carry out repairs to a 33kV transmission cable that faulted on Sunday evening. Work is anticipated to continue to Sunday, August 27th. Motorists are advised to approach with caution while the work is ongoing, and with the exception of critical access, to use alternative routes.
“We appreciate the patience of motorists and area residents while this essential repair work is being carried out.” The company also apologized for any inconvenience to the motoring public.
