Power was restored to thousands of homes across the island by 10pm last night (March 15) following “a temporary loss of generation capacity late Monday afternoon”.

Belco President Wayne Caines apologised for the “unexpected outage”.

“Once we experienced the generation loss, our crews immediately got to work to restore power to customers as quickly, safely and as efficiently as possible,” he said.

Roughly 4,000 homes were affected by the power outage that occurred around 5pm, primarily in the East End and central parishes, with some areas affected in Sandys.
