The Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre (BCHC) sent a “huge shout out” to all of their fundraisers and sponsors now that they have raised 68 percent of the $300,000 fundraising goal for 2021.
The message was sent out via the centre’s monthly newsletter for the month of July, which said they were able to reach the amount raised to date “even in these unprecedented times”.
“And the year is not over yet!”
The following top fundraisers were also acknowledged:
Individual Top Fundraiser – Anthony Kapsimalis
Top Community Team – Island Without Cancer (IWC)
Top Corporate Team – Serve With Liberty
Top New Team – Busy Blees
The Centre also repeated the call for more donations to reach their goal, saying: “Relay For Life is our largest fundraiser and we need to at least raise $300,000 in 2021 (Relay would normally raise $700,000 in a traditional year) so that we can continue to provide equal access to cancer prevention, detection and treatment services.
“In 2020, the Centre subsidised over $1.7 million in services where health insurance did not cover 100 percent of the appointment cost or for patients without insurance – ensuring that no one has to make the difficult decision to postpone or forgo vital medical care.”
