The Argus Group has stepped up for an eighth year to sponsor the popular Argus Walks the Walk with The Centre on Philanthropy.

The fundraising event, which takes place on Sunday, March 18, starts and ends outside the Argus Building on Wesley Street.

The “unique” charity walk allows participants to donate their entry fee to their favourite Bermuda registered charity.

A spokesperson said: “It is an opportunity for many of Bermuda’s smaller charities to have a fundraiser without having to allocate resources to organise and run an event.

The route is just over 5 kilometres and the event begins at 8:15am for a warm-up session and an 8:30am.”

Participants can register online on RaceDayWorld.com, the fee is $25, of this $20 goes to the charity selected by the participant and $5 to support Volunteer.bm. All registered charities are eligible to receive donations for this event.

Prizes will be awarded to the largest youth, non-profit and corporate teams that enter the event as well as prizes for best coordinated outfits, best choreography and best cheer.

Michelle Jackson, Executive Vice President of The Argus Group, said: “We are delighted to once again support The Centre on Philanthropy with this innovative fundraiser, where the participants get to pick the cause they want to sponsor.

“Argus supports a wide range of charitable causes that align with our donations theme of prevention, be that prevention of illness, prevention of financial loss of prevention of the causes of anti-social behaviour.

“We encourage everyone to sign up and walk with friends and family so that they can get some exercise, give back to the community and have fun,” she added.

Danielle Riviere, Interim Executive Director of The Centre on Philanthropy, said: “We are pleased to be working with Argus for the eighth Argus Walks the Walk… and we are grateful for their generosity in sponsoring the race.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for Bermudians to show their support for their favourite local charity.”
