Mirror Online: LONDON, England – The son of NBA basketball legend Scottie Pippen has sadly passed away aged just 33.
“I’m heartbroken to share that yesterday, I said goodbye to my firstborn son Antron. The two of us shared a love for basketball and we had countless conversations about the game,” Pippen tweeted.
“Antron suffered from chronic asthma and if he hadn’t had it, I truly believe he would’ve made it to the NBA. He never let that get him down, though – Antron stayed positive and worked hard, and I am so proud of the man that he became.
“Please keep his mom, Karen, and all of his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers. A kind heart and beautiful soul gone way too soon. I love you, son, rest easy until we meet again.”
Antron was born in 1987, a year before Pippen married McCollum, who he separated from just two years later.
He followed his father into basketball, representing Texas A&M International University as well as South Georgia Technical College, who paid tribute to Antron on social media.
“The Jets family was saddened to learn of the death of one of our former players, Antron Pippen,” a post on their Twitter account wrote. “His family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers. Antron was a Jet during the 2006-2007 season.”
After leaving college Antron played semi-professionally and at a local level.
He is reported to have been working as a machine technician at the time of his death.
Following the birth of Antron , Pippen had twins with ex Sonya Roby, though suffered heartbreak when Tyler died shortly after her arrival, leaving behind sister Taylor.
He also has a daughter Sierra from his relationship with ex Yvette Deleone, as well as three sons and a daughter with estranged second wife Larsa Pippen.
