Police are investigating another accident involving a motorcyclist injured in a collision with a police car, this time in the City of Hamilton.

Police say the accident occurred around 12:20am this morning (May 12) at the junction of King Street and Reid Street as police pursued another motorcyclist along King Street.

A spokesman said “the collision occurred as the police vehicle pursued one motorcyclist along King Street, but struck a second motorcyclist” who was travelling along Reid Street.

“The first motorcyclist made good their escape,” he said.

“The second motorcyclist was injured and transported from the scene to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening at this time. An update on her medical condition is anticipated in due course.”

Traffic diversions were put in effect while the scene was processed.

“However, a section of King Street has been temporarily reduced to one lane (left lane), indicated by cones.”
