A section of road where that serious four-vehicle accident occurred late last night, was closed to traffic during the morning rush hour this morning, as the police investigation continues.
No official word yet on the condition of the male motorcyclist found unresponsive at the scene.
The road was reopened shortly after 8am.
Earlier a police spokesman said: “The scene of last night’s collision remains closed with traffic being diverted at the junction of South Road and Lighthouse Road, as well as the junction of South Road and the entrance to Southampton Princess Hotel.
“Traffic delays are to be expected and we apologise for the inconvenience caused as we continue to investigate the serious multi-vehicle collision.”
