Bermuda’s newest international sporting team, the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup is being celebrated today and tomorrow with a local flair in the America’s Cup Village.

The ACBDA said today: “National sporting groups and associations are showing their support for the team of nine young Bermudians who have shown great determination, talent and effort as a new sailing team and who race in the finals of the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup today and tomorrow.

“Bermudian sporting legend Clyde Best will take to the stage with other popular Bermudian sports represented, with a view to showing the similar qualities in all sports, demonstrating how sports brings people of all walks of life together for a common goal. This theme will be led by Eugene Dean, who also leads the way in the community, encouraging peace and unity.”

Premier Michael Dunkley said today: “I wish the team the very best and I’m so proud of them and how they have engendered true Bermudian spirit. We hope that Bermudians will be able to find time to show their support by coming to the America’s Cup Village for today and tomorrow’s 2pm racing.

“TeamBDA hears the cheers and sees the flags, let’s make sure they know we are behind them.”

ACBDA CEO Mike Winfield said: “From the ACBDA team indeed from all Bermudians, a very sincere thanks to all of TeamBDA, their manager and coaches, for your hard work and dedication, you have made the community proud, know that your country is behind you.”

More than 200 school children are set to join TeamBDA supporters who will be flying the Bermuda flag today. The village opens at 11:30am until 5:30pm. Tickets can be purchased at americascup.com/tickets for $10.
