In his first Christmas message as Bermuda’s youngest Premier, Progressive Labour Party Leader David Burt has called on residents to take time out to remember and think of Bermuda’s less fortunate, and “the families who are spending their first holiday season without a child, a parent, a sibling as a result of gun violence, or as the result of a road accident”.

Premier Burt is one of several Members of Parliament who opted to support Bermuda Real, celebrating our third year as an independent media outlet this month, by way of sponsoring Christmas messages.

The Premier’s official Christmas message will be released closer to December 25th. His message to Bermuda Real readers states:

“As we begin to slow down from a very busy year, I want to extend my warmest wishes to all of Bermuda during this holiday season. This is a very special time for celebrating family, community and the blessings that we have.

“Whether you choose to observe Christmas, Kwanza, or Hanukkah, or have no religious or cultural ties to the holiday season at all, I encourage you to remember and think about those in our community who are alone, ill, or struggling daily to make ends meet.

“Remember the families who are spending their first holiday season without a child, a parent, a sibling as a result of gun violence, or as the result of a road accident. Keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

“As we approach 2018, I want to again, extend my sincere thnks to those of you that have supported the PLP government thus far, and know that we plan to continue to work tirelessly for a better Bermuda.

“On behalf of my family and the Progressive Labour Party, I wish you a very Happy Holiday and a prosperous and bright new year.”

The Premier’s message can be viewed on BermudaReal.com, with others, including Deputy Premier and Minister of Transport, Walter Roban, PLP MPs Michael Scott and Jamahl Simmons & Family, One Bermuda Alliance MP and former Premier Michael Dunkley, with others still to come.

On behalf of Bermuda Real and in celebration of our third anniversary this month, we say thank you for your support which is greatly appreciated. And from our family to yours we wish you a very Merry Christmas, and the best of health, which is the new wealth in the New Year.
